Thanks, Darling. Tharling.

So, the government is to offer people up to £2000 off the price of a new car, if they scrap their old one.

This could be a problem for us on two fronts;
1) People will no longer sell their bangers, choosing to scrap them instead.
2) The market for bangers will get too competitive, as people try to buy £200 cars in order to get £2000 off a new one. This competition will drive prices up, making it impossible for us to get something we can use for a price that's acceptable.

Either way, we could be in trouble if we don't get a car soon.  Just hope that the details of this new policy prevent the above from happening.
